Boss Jim Magilton has revolutionised Town's ballboy arrangements for the new season. From last Saturday, academy schoolboys were employed in the role and were encouraged to keep an eye on and learn from the senior team members playing in their positions.

Boss Jim Magilton called for his players to make a good start to their season opener at home to Sheffield Wednesday and they gave him exactly that. The Blues won a penalty in the 35th second of the match and never looked back as they went on to a comfortable 4-1 win.

Town romped to a 4-1 opening day victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road. The Blues went ahead through a Alan Lee's early penalty, then Gary Roberts lashed home a stunning volley, before Lee made it three at the break. Couñago added the fourth prior to Leon Clarke pulled one back.

Academy midfielder Paul Murphy has been named in the Republic of Ireland U17 squad playing in an invitational tournament in Lithuania from August 18th to 23rd. Murphy, a striker or wide midfielder, joined the academy full-time this summer.
